Salisbury Defeats Penn State Altoona Swim Teams

11/12/2016 — SALISBURY, Md. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams each suffered a loss to non-conference opponent Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon, as the Lions lost 140-64 and the Lady Lions were defeated 145-63 in the Maggs Center Pool.

The Penn State Altoona men's team recorded three first place finishes on the day.

John Polidoro (Bensalem, PA/Holy Ghost Preparatory) prevailed in the 50 Meter Butterfly, finishing first with a time of 29.56.

In the 100 Meter IM, Tom Weir (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) finished atop the standings with a time of 1:12.64.

In the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, the team of Gino Cercone (Allison Park, PA/Shaler), Dominic Woods (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood), Weir, and Gregory Landis (York, PA/West York) combined to finish in 1:55.17 to place first.

The Lady Lions also notched three first places in the meet, with two of them coming courtesy of Paetyn Zeamer (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central).

Zeamer won the 200 Meter Freestyle, clocking in at 2:23.37. Later, she placed first in the 100 Meter IM by finishing in 1:17.51.

In the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, the squad of Ariana Paulhamus (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore), Amanda Vitti (Summit, NJ/Summit), Alexis Franks (Pleasant Gap, PA/Bellefonte), and Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) came in first with a time of 2:24.23.

Next up for Penn State Altoona's men's and women's swimming teams is a dual meet at Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m.
