Lady Lions Bowling Finishes in 15th at Red Flash Invitational

1/29/2017 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's bowling went 2-1 on the third and final day of the Saint Francis University Red Flash Invitational on Sunday at Holiday Bowl, and the Lady Lions settled into 15th place out of 17 teams to cap their weekend.

Host school St. Francis won the tournament, while Norfolk State University came in second place and Mount Aloysius College finished third.

The Lady Lions ended the tournament with a strong performance in Sunday's baker matches in the championship bracket. After Penn State Altoona started the day with a 4-2 (760-734) loss to Wilmington University, it bounced back to win 4-2 (854-728) over Thiel College before moving up into 15th place with a 4-2 (822-802) victory over Wilmington.

Brea Suchonic (Butler, PA/Butler) led the Lady Lions on Sunday with a baker average of 13.46, while Nikki Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) was second on the team with a baker average of 13.03.

Next, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team will wrap up its season in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, which are hosted by Mount Aloysius on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12.
