AMCC Ready for Women's Bowling Championship This Weekend

AMCC WOMEN'S BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP RELEASE

2/7/2017 — ALTOONA, Pa. - The 2016-2017 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women's Bowling Championship is set to occur this Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12 at Richland Lanes in Johnstown.

Hosted by Mount Aloysius College, the AMCC Championship is a two-day tournament to determine which school will win the 2016-2017 conference title. Seeding for the tournament is as follows: #1 Mount Aloysius, #2 New Jersey City University, #3 Medaille College, #4 Pitt-Bradford, #5 Penn State Altoona, and #6 Thiel College.

The championship gets underway on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and the teams will compete in traditional team format matches that day. On Sunday, the action starts at 9:00 a.m. with a day of baker matches.

Lady Lions bowling will be in search of its first-ever AMCC championship in its eighth season as a varsity sport at Penn State Altoona. The Lady Lions (3-18) are led by senior Brea Suchonic (Butler, PA/Butler), who ranks seventh in the AMCC in team format average (170.2) and 10th in baker format average (16.3). Sophomore Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) has bowled Penn State Altoona's highest score of the year, which was a 219 on November 12 against conference opponent New Jersey City.
