Men's Volleyball Wins Two in Friday Night NEAC Action

2/17/2017 — LANCASTER, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's volleyball opened its second North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover weekend on Friday night at Lancaster Bible College's Horst Athletic Center, and the Lions came away with a pair of 3-0 victories.

The Lions (8-3, 4-1 NEAC) took care of Hilbert College (0-8, 0-4 NEAC) in match number one of the evening, sweeping the Hawks 25-13, 25-21, 25-10.

Brandon Arentz (Mount Wolf, PA/Northeastern) led Penn State Altoona in kills and blocks, finishing the match with eight kills, four solo blocks, and one block assists to go along with six digs. Bradley Colditz (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) added five kills and two block assists.

Justin Bannister (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) posted four kills, two block assists, and one solo block. Brian Sheddy (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) also had four kills to go along with four digs.

Billy Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) had a team-high 20 set assists and chipped in two service aces and four digs.

Waldemar Rivera-Berrios (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Samuel Clemens) led the Lions in digs with eight.

Penn State Altoona's second match was much closer, as the Lions pulled out a 25-23, 28-26, 26-24 win over Medaille College (4-7, 1-1 NEAC).

Colditz led Penn State Altoona in kills with 12 while adding five digs and two block assists. Bannister led all players in the match with six total blocks, totaling three solo blocks and three block assists, and he added five kills. Arentz also had five kills to go along with six digs, two block assists, and one solo block.

Tommy Kisick (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) had a team-high 14 set assists, and Smith tallied 12 set assists.

Rivera-Berrios posted a match-high 17 digs.

Penn State Altoona men's volleyball finishes its weekend of NEAC matches at Lancaster Bible tomorrow, Saturday, February 18, when the Lions take on D'Youville College at 11:00 a.m.
