Lions Volleyball Sweeps Hilbert 3-0

3/24/2017 — HAMBURG, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona men's volleyball opened its final North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover Weekend of the season on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Hilbert College in the Hafner Recreation Center.

With the victory, the Lions (17-4, 11-1 NEAC) have matched the program's record for most overall wins and conference wins in a season, both accomplished by the 2016 squad that went 17-11 overall and 12-4 in the NEAC.

Against Hilbert (0-16, 0-11 NEAC), Penn State Altoona swept the match by scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-13.

Daniel Downs (Reading, PA/Daniel Boone) led all players in the match with 12 kills, matching his season-high total. Bradley Colditz (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) added seven kills, five digs, and one solo block.

Brandon Arentz (Mount Wolf, PA/Northeastern) finished with six kills to go along with seven digs. Brian Sheddy (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) also had six kills, as well as a team-high two service aces.

Tommy Kisick (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) led Penn State Altoona in set assists with a match-high 18, and Billy Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) tallied 15 assists.

Waldemar Rivera-Berrios (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Samuel Clemens) put up 14 digs to lead all players on the day.

The Lions pick up play tomorrow, Saturday, March 25 with two more NEAC matches at Hilbert. At 11:00 a.m., Penn State Altoona faces Medaille College before wrapping up the day with a 5:00 p.m. match against D'Youville College.
