Lions Tennis Tops Frostburg 7-2 for Fourth Straight Win

4/14/2017 — FROSTBURG, Md. - Penn State Altoona men's tennis reeled off its fourth consecutive win when it defeated non-conference opponent Frostburg State University 7-2 on Friday at the Bobcat Tennis Courts.

The win was the fourth non-conference victory of the season for Penn State Altoona (7-4, 3-2 AMCC).

The Lions jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles play. The duo of Jonathan D'Arcy (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West)/Tao Yang (Emporium, PA/Cameron County) earned an 8-6 victory in No. 2 doubles, and Carlos Cevallos (Palisades Park, NJ/Palisades Park)/Jared Harshbarger (Somerset, PA/Somerset) won 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.

Penn State Altoona then went on to win five out of the six singles matches. D'Arcy won 7-5, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, and Thomas Graden (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) prevailed 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 slot. Cevallos picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 4, and Harshbarger won 6-2, 7-6 in No. 5 singles. Yang rounded out the wins by defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.

Next up, the Lions hit the road again to face non-conference opponent Waynesburg University on Tuesday, April 18 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
