Softball Set for Eighth Consecutive AMCC Tournament Appearance

5/1/2017 — ALTOONA, Pa. - With the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season now completed, the league announced the seeding and schedule for the conference postseason softball tournament on Monday.

The AMCC Tournament will be hosted in Erie, Pa. at Penn State Behrend, which won the conference regular season title and earns the top seed in the tournament. The three-day double elimination bracket begins this Friday, May 5 with four games. The action continues Saturday, May 6 with a total of five games, and the remaining two teams will battle for the AMCC championship on Sunday, May 7.

Penn State Altoona (17-17, 12-6 AMCC) is the third seed in the AMCC Tournament and will face No. 6 Mount Aloysius College in the opening game on Friday at 10:00 a.m. The winner of that game will go on to face No. 2 Medaille College in game three on Friday, and the loser will play in the second game of the day on Saturday.

The Lady Lions are making their eighth straight appearance in the AMCC Tournament. During that stretch, the team has won two conference championships.

Game 2 - No. 4 Pitt-Greensburg vs. No. 5 Franciscan University
Game 3 - No. 2 Medaille College vs. Winner Game 1
Game 4 - No. 1 Penn State Behrend vs. Winner Game 2

Saturday, May 6
First game at 9:00 a.m.; subsequent games to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the previous game.

Game 5 - Loser of Game 2 vs. Loser of Game 3
Game 6 - Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 4
Game 7 - Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4
Game 8 - Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 6
Game 9 - Loser of Game 7 vs. Winner of Game 8

Sunday, May 7
First game at 10:00 a.m.; Game 11 to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 10, if needed.

Game 10 - Winner of Game 7 vs. Winner of Game 9
Game 11 - Same as Game 10 (if first loss for loser of Game 10)
