5/8/2017 — ALTOONA, Pa. - No. 4 Penn State Altoona baseball saw its season come to an end on Monday, losing 10-0 to No. 5 Pitt-Bradford in the third and final game of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament best-of-three series at Juniata Civic Baseball Field.

The teams split the first two games of the series yesterday, but Pitt-Bradford (15-23) won the decisive third game today to advance in the AMCC Tournament. The Panthers will now move on to compete in the tournament's championship rounds, comprised of the conference's final four, hosted at top seed La Roche College on May 11-14.

"Disappointing that our season had to come to an end with another lopsided loss. However, I feel this team overachieved all season long coming off of an 11-29 season the year before, and I couldn't be more proud of the guys for helping make Penn State Altoona baseball relevant again," said Penn State Altoona head coach RJ Barnard. "We are really going to miss our seniors, Jared Dailey and Mike Marley, for their leadership on and off the field, and I wish them both the best of luck in their futures."

Jared Dailey (Boalsburg, PA/State College) got the start on the mound for Penn State Altoona (19-21) and suffered the loss. The righty pitched 4 1/3 innings before exiting the game with an injury.

Zane Leister (Middleburg, PA/Midd-West) tossed one inning in relief before Mike Marley (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) came on to throw 3 2/3 scoreless innings, limiting Pitt-Bradford to just two hits and two walks while recording four strikeouts.

Jordan McCall (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) led the Lions at the plate, going 3-for-3. Chase Clouser (Columbus, OH/Dublin Jerome) went 2-for-4.

After the game started with three scoreless innings, Pitt-Bradford took advantage of opportunities with two outs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead. Tim Brown's two RBI single through the left side put the Panthers on the board, and two Penn State Altoona errors allowed two more Pitt-Bradford runs to score.

The visitors doubled their lead in the fifth. Austin Parent's sacrifice fly to right brought in one run, and Brody Wood's bases loaded walk later in the inning made it 6-0. Brown came through with another two-run single to left, increasing the Panthers' advantage to 8-0.

Pitt-Bradford tacked on two more runs in the sixth, getting an RBI double to left-center from Jay Clinger and a run-scoring base hit through the left side from Parent.
