2017-18 Men's Basketball Newcomers

11/9/2017Dequan Jackson - (Sr./Philadelphia, Pa.) This 6’4” long, athletic wing player is transferring in from Penn State Abington to play his final season here in Altoona. A proven scorer, “DJ” has already reached over 1,000 points in his collegiate career. His sophomore campaign saw him lead the North Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per contest, which garnered him a second team all-NEAC selection. Jackson has a great ability to get to the rim and finish, and he can really run the floor. DJ is also a tenacious defender with the ability to guard multiple positions on the defensive end. He is majoring in Business.

Tre Brown - (Sr./Winchester, Va.) This strong, quick, athletic point guard is no stranger to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference competition, as he played his first three seasons at nearby conference school Mount Aloysius College. Tre is a true floor general who can really push the ball and has a great knack for finding open teammates, but can also finish when needed. Tre finished last season sixth in the AMCC in assists and seventh in steals during his junior campaign. Tre’s style of play will fit in well with the up-tempo style of the Lions. He is majoring in Business.

Jalen Archie-Davis - (Jr./Atlanta, Ga.) This smooth, heady guard was a member of NCAA DI Bryant University during his freshmen year after a strong high school campaign in Georgia, which saw him win a state championship at Norcross High School his junior year. After leaving Bryant, he attended Marymount University, where he worked on his academics. Jalen has the ability to create for himself and the ability to set up his teammates with ease. He is a great on-the-ball defender and has a high basketball I.Q. Jalen is majoring in Letters, Arts & Sciences.

Austin Krise - (So./Allport, Pa.) This athletic wing from Central Pennsylvania was a prolific scorer in at West Branch High School, where he scored 1,439 points in his career. Austin spent his freshmen season at Penn State Harrisburg, where he saw action in 20 games for the Lions in the tough Capital Athletic Conference. Krise has a solid all-around floor game. A solid passer and scorer, this local product has a great feel for the game and sees the court extremely well. A sneaky good defender, Austin is a legitimate two-way player. He in majoring in Elementary Education.

Aubrey Washington - (Fr./Jacksonville, Fla.) This dual threat guard has the ability to fill it up and distribute with the best of them. A University Christian product, Aubrey led his team scoring, averaging over 18 points a game in his senior campaign to cap a 1,000-point career. After a prep season at the Conrad Academy in Orlando, Fla., Aubrey has added muscle to his frame and quickness to his game. He was a first team All-State performer in Class A in Florida, and he was a State Level nominee for the McDonald’s All-American team. Aubrey is undecided on his choice of major.

Nate Gillen - (Fr./Johnstown, Pa.) This sharp-shooting guard was a member of the 2017 District 6 Class AAA Championship team at Central Cambria. Nate has a great basketball I.Q. and plays on both ends of the floor, and with his play, he was named the Conference Player of the Year in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference during his senior campaign. Nate has a great work ethic, plays extremely hard on the court, and is a great addition to the Lions' backcourt. Nate is undecided on his choice of major.

Chucky Drummond - (Fr./Royersford, Pa.) This smooth, athletic guard has the innate ability to score the ball multiple ways. He can shoot it from distance and get to the basket and finish. During his high school tenure at Spring Ford High School, Chucky was a member of the 2015-16 PAC-10 League Championship team and was named to the All-Conference first team as a senior. His ability to shoot and score will make him a valuable asset in the Lions' program. Chucky is majoring in Security Risk Analysis.

Curtis Neff - (Fr./Houtzdale, Pa.) This long, athletic wing player was a four-year letter winner and 1,000-point scorer during his career at Moshannon Valley High School. Curtis has the ability to knock down the deep ball with great consistency and has the knack to score around the basket. He was an ICC all-conference honoree in both basketball and football, as he was the starting quarterback for the Knights. Curtis is majoring in Education.

Danny Browne - (Fr./Downingtown, Pa.) This strong, physical wing is a solid all-around basketball player. During his high school career, Browne used his ability to knock down the three ball and finish at the basket to score over 1,000 points. Danny is a deceptively good ball handler and is a tenacious defender. His ability to play multiple positions is an added bonus for the Lions' program. Danny is undecided in his choice of major.

Richard Dei-Kwarteng - (Fr./Windsor Mill, Md.) This freakishly athletic wing/post player has unlimited potential. Richard can flat out jump out of the gym and can finish over defenders with ease. His mid-range game is also solid, and his continued work to extend that range will be an added bonus. After spending a prep year at SOE Academy in North Carolina, Dei-Kwarteng has shown massive improvements since his high school career ended. Richard is majoring in Security Risk Analysis.
