AMCC Announces 2016 Fall Sportsmanship Team


11/30/2016 — ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its 2016 Fall Sportsmanship Team, and it includes five representatives from Penn State Altoona fall sports teams.

All teams that compete for an AMCC championship select one member from their roster who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by vote of their teammates.

The student-athlete selected by each team must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect, and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and fans. The player must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams’ sporting events.

The five Penn State Altoona student-athletes voted to the Fall Sportsmanship Team are:

Men's Golf: Carl Gelardi (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley)

Men's Soccer: Michael Carrigan (Malvern, PA/Great Valley)

Women's Soccer: Caroline Menges (Harleysville, PA/Lansdale Catholic)

Women's Tennis: Taylor Stoudnour (Hollidaysburg, PA/Altoona)

Women's Volleyball: Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro)
